Method of concealing underground nuclear explosions
Seismic signal from underground nuclear explosion can be greatly reduced by carrying out explosion in large cavity; estimate of effectiveness of method indicates that yield of more than 300 kilotons could be made to look seismically like yield of 1 kiloton; experiments with both chemical and nuclear explosions are needed to test theory.
