Semitechnical studies of fire behavior of building constructions containing plastics
Special constructions made of glass fiber reinforced polyester (GFRP) were prepared and flame- and fire-experiments were conducted; it was shown that ignition of GFRP structures has occurred only with difficulty, and fire started fast when flames were spread over large area of construction; with GFRP already on fire, burning of resin goes on pretty fast so extinguishing is limited, often even excluded; recommendations for limitation of GFRP structures for building constructions because of their fire hazard.
