It took only three months to build 41 ft diam, 161 ft deep silo for Titan ICBM project at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, SD; rail mounted slip form moved upward at rate of 4 ft every 6 hr; construction required unusual accuracy; laterally, finished concrete could not vary more than 1/4 in. out of round vertically, it could not be more than 1/4 in. out of plumb in 10 ft.
