Demolition of Waterloo bridge
History of bridge: scheme of wrecking consisted in first lightening bridge by removal of superstructure above level of top of arch keystones, then erecting four lines of girders; arches subsequently demolished while remaining self-supporting until about only quarter of original width of 45 ft remained in middle.
