Design of nail-laminated two hinged semi-circular timber arches
Analysis and design of arches with constant cross-section and with vertically and horizontally laminated arch ribs for spans from 20 to 80 ft at 10-ft intervals; numerical design computations are made for timber of Eastern Canadian Species, but study may be applied to timber of other species; arch of 50 ft span was chosen as design example to illustrate design procedure; design loads, working stresses and some design simplifications are analyzed; design computations are given for vertical and horizontal laminations.
