Development of safer roadside signs -- 2
Description is given of development of roadside sign supports which limit impact forces to tolerable values; tests were conducted with full scale operational vehicles and sign supports; correlations show that model presented can simulate collision event; anomalies do exist, however, and efforts are being made to correct them; model will be used to investigate effects of various system parameters on operational behavior of support; with results of this parameter study, design criteria can be developed.
