Method is presented in which differences in stay tensions necessary to maintain equilibrium in mast subjected to wind loading are related to actual tensions developed in stays as result of changes in length of stay chords caused by displacement of mast from initial position; mast stays are considered as elastic catenaries treated as shallow parabolas; increase of tension caused by reduction of sag is plotted as graph relating tension to extension, on which values of stay tensions and mast displacements can be measured to appropriate scales.
