Prediction of moisture transfer in building constructions
AbstractExisting methods available for practising designers and architects to calculate moisture transfer through building constructions are reviewed and a transient model on combined heat and moisture transfer in composite constructions is introduced. Results using the transient model on a particular case are compared with those obtained using the traditional methods. The consideration of hygroscopic inertia by the transient model significantly alters the prediction of how moisture migrates within and through a building construction.
