Ternary diffusion in cement clinker at 1500°C
AbstractA Portland cement clinker related diffusion couple, having end-members C3S + C2S + melt and C + C3S + melt, respectively, was annealed at 1500°C for 60 minutes. After quenching it was sectioned and studied by electron microprobe. The local compositions measured were plotted in the phase diagram. The composition path, thus derived, roughly consists of three line-sections, forming an S. Simple liquid-liquid diffusion couples, having compositions near that of the cement clinker interstitial, show similar features. These observations are to be expected from the general principles of ternary diffusion processes.
ZusammenfassungEt diffusionspar med tilknytning til Portland cementklinker, bestående af henholdsvis C3S + C2S + smelte, og C + C3S + smelte, blev varmebehandlet ved 1500°C i 60 minutter. Efter hurtig afkøling blev en snitflade gennem prøven undersøgt med elektronmikrosonde. De målte lokale sammensætninger blev indtegnet i fasediagramment, og den resulterende diffusionsvej består i store træk af tre liniestykker, der danner et S. Simple smelte-smelte diffusionspar, med sammensætning i nærheden af cementklinkers interstitielsmeltefase, viser lignende diffusionsveje. Disse observationer kan forventes ud fra de principper, der gælder for ternære diffusionsprincipper.
