Disproportionation of C3 and C4 olefins on rhenium oxide catalysts containing a natural carrier
Abstract 1. In the presence of a Re2O7 catalyst propylene is selectively transformed into an equimolecular mixture of ethylene and n-butenes. 2. Owing to the high isomerization ability of the catalyst but-1-ene forms an equilibrium mixture of n-butenes which under disproportionation to propylene and pentanes. The latter are partially polymerized on the catalyst. 3. Saturation of a natural carrier with a rhenium heptoxide solution in dioxan increases the activity, selectivity and stability of the rhenium oxide catalyst during disproportion of olefins.
