Geological and geotechmical studies for the Gibraltar tunnel
AbstractOf all the possible alternatives for a link across the Straits of Gibraltar (bridge, tunnel, etc.), there is no doubt that building a subsurface tunnel under the seabed is one of the options being considered most seriously. Within this context, the geological and geotechnical work begun several years ago by Spain and Morocco is fulfilling the scheduled stages. This paper describes the basic criteria used in drawing up these schedules of studies and gives a report on the state of the research being carried out.
RésuméDe toutes les possibilités de construitre un lien à travers le détroit de Gibraltar (pont, tunnel, etc…), il n'y a pas de doute que la construction d'un tunnel sous le fond de la mer reste l'une des options la plus sérieusement considérée. Dans ce contexte, la partie géologique et géotechnique commencée il y a plusieurs années par l'Espagne et le Maroc est conforme aux différents stades planifiés. Cet article décrit les critères de base utilisés lors de l'établissement des phases d'études et récapitule aussi l'état des recherches en cours.
