Abstract 1. 1. Reactions of organo-sulphur compounds (mercaptans, di-sulphides and sulphides) with iron penta-, nona- and dodecacarbonyls were examined. In reactivity organo-sulphur compounds and iron carbonyls occupy the following order: RSH>RSSR>RSR; Fe3(CO)12>Fe2(CO)9>Fe(CO)5. 2. 2. A new method is proposed for the synthesis of bis-(alkylthio-iron tricarbonyl) using the triethylammonium salt of tri-iron-undecacarbonyl.
