Structural system reliability considerations with frame instability
Abstract An approximate method for structural system reliability analysis is presented for framed structures when instability failure modes are considered. Deterministic rigid-plastic and stability analysis techniques are reviewed. An efficient analytical procedure is combined with Monte Carlo simulation to obtain an estimate for the system reliability of structural frames when frame instability is considered. Examples are presented to illustrate the technique.
