Effect of cattle dung and rock phosphate on composting of wool waste
AbstractThe study on composting was conducted by using cow dung as inoculum in different proportions with additions of rock phosphate. From these studies it was observed that the use of dung as inoculum in biocatalysing the degradation of resistant materials such as wool waste at the rate of 10% dung (on dry weight basis) in the presence of 2% rock phosphate was beneficial in providing a better quality of compost than that obtained using other proportions of dung and rock phosphate. It was thus suggested that the dung as inoculum in the proportion of 10% dry weightt + 2% rock phosphate could be used for efficient composting of resistant materials such as wool waste.
