Load-haul-dump vehicle for confined spaces
A load-haul-dump (LHD) vehicle for constrained spaces such as underground mines. The LHD comprises a front axle and a rear axle, and an articulation in the vehicle between the front and rear axles. A diesel engine is positioned to the rear of the rear axle, and powers a hydraulic pump. A hydraulic motor is positioned forwardly of the articulation, and is hydraulically driven by the hydraulic pump. A transmission, typically on the fore chassis of the vehicle, is driven by the hydraulic motor, and drives the front axle and rear axle via respective drive shafts.
