Abstract The invention relates to a an actuating mechanism for remotely operating a latch mechanism attached to a panel of a door, the actuating mechanism comprises a lever having a first end for actuating a latch of the latch mechanism and a second end attached to a lead. By pulling at the lead the lever is displaced in order to actuate the latch mechanism. The actuating mechanism comprises a casing that is adapted to be attached to the panel of the door. The invention also relates to a system for remotely operating a first latch mechanism attached to one face of the panel of the door and a second latch mechanism attached to another face of the panel of the door. The system comprises one mechanism as previously described comprising a first magnet having a face of a particular polarity, and a second actuating mechanism as previously described comprising a second magnet having a face of a polarity opposite to the particular polarity of the face of the first magnet for attachment of the first and second actuating mechanism to the door panel. Fig 1 -- t 16 Fig. I
