Sliding window or door lock assembly and structure
A sliding window or door lock assembly including: a lock structure adapted to be mounted to or forming part of a sliding wing moveable between a closed position and a fully open position relative to a stationary surround, the lock structure including at least one retractable sliding bolt; and a plurality of strikes adapted to be mounted to or forming part of the stationary surround, wherein the at least one retractable sliding bolt is engagable with at least one first strike positioned to retain the at least one sliding bolt and thereby prevent the sliding wing moving with respect to the stationary surround from the closed position, and at least one second strike positioned to engage the at least one sliding bolt and thereby prevent the sliding wing moving beyond a vent position in which the sliding wing is in a partially open position, the lock structure further including: an actuating member operatively coupled to the at least one sliding bolt to selectively release the at least one sliding bolt from retained engagement with the at least one first strike such that the sliding wing is free to open to the vent position; and a key operated lock means operatively coupled to the at least one sliding bolt to selectively retract the at least one sliding bolt away from the at least one second strike such that the sliding wing is free to move past the vent position to the fully open position.
