The invention discloses a lock and a sliding door/window, the lock is applied to the sliding door/window, the sliding door/window comprises a profile, the profile is provided with a cavity, the lock is mounted in the cavity, the lock comprises: a base provided with an accommodating cavity, two opposite sides of the accommodating cavity are respectively provided with a first chute and a second chute; the first sliding part is arranged in the accommodating cavity in a sliding manner; the first locking piece is detachably mounted on the first sliding piece, and one end of the first locking piece is exposed out of the first sliding groove or exposed out of the second sliding groove; the first sliding piece drives the first lock catch piece to slide so as to achieve locking or unlocking. The first locking fastener is detachably installed in the containing cavity, the first sliding groove and the second sliding groove are formed in the two sides of the containing cavity correspondingly, so that the first locking fastener can be installed on one side of the first sliding groove and can also be installed on one side of the second sliding groove, and therefore the locking fastener can be adaptively installed in a door and window opened leftwards and a door and window opened rightwards; and the application range of the lock is widened.
