Tactile Marker and Manufacturing Method
Abstract The present invention is a manufacturing and colouring method for a tactile marker which creates a tactile marker with skid-proof properties. In the process of molding, this is accomplished by creating a wide and annular groove or an uneven surface with natural textures or irregular patterns on the marker surface. This can be done by engraving, or by using three-dimensional precision casting molds to create fine texture or coarse pattern on the marker surface. The texture or pattern is to cover the entire marker surface in order to create a skid-proof effect. Then, the marker surface will be coloured with methods including electrophoresis, electroplating, electrolysis, and baked painting. The entire marker surface, including the uneven surfaces, will be coloured. After colouring, the outermost layer of the marker surface of the tactile marker will be removed by polishing and buffing. With the colour of the outermost layer of the marker surface removed, the colour of the indented surfaces will be retained.
