A barb (10) securely anchors a hollow fence post (12) into the ground (14). The barb is first attached to a ground advancing end (16) surrounding an opening (18) of the post, 5 and the post is then driven into the ground. The barb has a first spring biased portion (20) which abuts against an internal surface (22) of a first wall region (24) of the ground advancing end. The barb has a second spring biased portion (26) which abuts N against an external surface (28) of the first wall region. The barb has an outwardly N projecting barb portion (34) which angles away from both the opening and the external 10 surface. The outwardly projecting barb portion is connected to the second spring biased portion. The barb has a joining hinge portion (38) which connects together a lower end (40) of the first spring biased portion and a lower end (42) of the outwardly projecting barb portion.
