Manhole Cover
A lightweight manhole cover 100 is capable of being injected moulded in one piece whilst withstanding the required loads. It has a substantially continuous top section 101 joined to (as part of the same moulding) (a) a substantially circular ring 102 extending downwardly from the top section, and (b) a reinforcing section 105 also extending downwardly from the top section and bounded on its bottom face by a convex curve which is deepest at the centre of the manhole cover and extends outwardly towards the least deepest section adjoining the substantially circular ring. The reinforcing section consists of a plurality of cells 110 open towards the bottom of the manhole cover, each cell being formed by curved intersecting ribs 108 which extend downwardly from the top section enabling the tooling to be extracted at the completion of the moulding process. - 10 -
