One way to achieve this is by using a tension tie between the items to apply or withstand a tension between the items. This specification discloses such a tension tie, and related components and methods to apply or withstand tension in a construction, for example a building or similar. The tension tie includes a connector, made from a first resilient material, to connect to the construction at a first point, and a tie rod to engage with, and be retained by, the connector, the tie rod also to connect to the construction at a second, different point. The tie rod is made from a second resilient material, the first resilient material having higher ductility than the second material. The connector and tie rod can be connected between the two points of the construction to apply, or withstand, tension between those two points.
