An isolation device (47) for suppressing noise in a wall, the device (47) being dimensioned to fit about a vertical building member (S) of said wall and within an opening (SH) of a ) horizontal stiffening member (NT) of said wall, said vertical building member (S) adapted to pass through said opening (SH), said isolation device including: a first separating portion (49) configured to overlie an exterior face of a side wall of the vertical building member (S) in order to separate said vertical building member side wall from a side wall (SWNT) of the horizontal stiffening member (NT); and a second separating portion (53) extending from said first separating portion (49) and configured to separate a web (WNT) of the horizontal stiffening member (NT) from a web (SW) of the vertical building member (S) at said opening (SH) of the horizontal stiffening member (NT).
