A pier block made of concrete and used as a part of the structural support for a wooden deck. The pier block is designed to be used with 4 inch wide x 4 inch long posts or 6 inch wide x 6 inch long posts or posts that are 4 inch wide x 4 inch long and also 6 inch wide x 6 inch long. These posts are of said wooden deck. The pier block includes a post-receiving void to receive the lower end of a post of said wooden deck. The post receiving void includes four sunken vertical supports for the received 4 inch wide x 4 inch long posts or four sunken vertical supports for the received 6 inch wide x 6 inch long posts or eight sunken vertical supports for the received 4 inch wide x 4 inch long and 6 inch wide x 6 inch long posts. Some embodiments of said pier block include one or more drainage channels that extend from the edge of the post-receiving void to an edge of the pier block and are used to reduce rot of said wooden deck posts.
