The invention discloses a damper for a building. The damper comprises two soft steel spring pieces, and fiber components are arranged on the inner side faces of the two soft steel spring pieces; one side face of each fiber component is embedded into the corresponding soft steel spring piece, and the fiber components are connected with the soft steel spring pieces through elastic screws; the other side faces of the fiber components are connected with adjustable screw rods; and one end of each adjustable screw rod is connected with the corresponding fiber component, and the other end of the adjustable screw rods are located on damping pipes; holes matched with the adjustable screw rods are formed in the damping pipes, and damping plates are arranged on the damping pipes; the damping plates are arranged in an oval-shaped structure manner, and damping pieces are internally arranged between the two ends of the damping plates and the damping pipes; and two piston rods are arranged on the damping plates. The damper for the building has the advantages of being simple in structure, stable in system, rapid in reaction, convenient to machine and adjustable in energy consumption capacity, and facilitating component replacement, and meanwhile in the mounting process, the central distance can be conveniently adjusted, and loosening can be effectively prevented.
