The invention discloses a thick fire-retardant coating construction method, which includes the following steps: (1) a formwork is used for covering the surface of a steel structure, a pouring and tamping space is reserved according to the thickness of fire-retardant coating, and a pouring and tamping opening is reserved in the closing position of the formwork; (2) the fire-retardant coating is poured and tamped into the pouring and tamping opening, and the fire-retardant coating is poured and tamped along the pouring and tamping space until the fire-retardant coating is compact; (3) the pouring and tamping opening is closed. The invention also discloses a thick fire-retardant coating construction device, which comprises the formwork covering the surface of the steel structure, the formwork comprises metal meshes and an inorganic fabric, the metal meshes are laminated on the surface of the inorganic fabric, the inorganic fabric covers the surface of the steel structure, moreover, the pouring and tamping space which corresponds to the thickness of the fire-retardant coating is formed, and the closable pouring and tamping opening is arranged in the closing position of the metal meshes and the inorganic fabric. The thick fire-retardant coating construction method adopts the formwork pouring method to apply the thick fire-retardant coating, the formwork plays the role of protecting the fire-retardant coating in the process of pouring, consequently, working efficiency is increased greatly, and the construction period is shortened greatly.
