The present invention provides a refractory spray paint for a steel ladle work lining and a preparation method thereof, and solves the problem of short life of the work lining in the prior art. The refractory spray paint comprises, by weight, 20-50 parts of fused corundum, 10-20 parts fused magnesia, 8-20 parts fused aluminum-magnesium spinel, 5-12 parts of white fused corundum, 5-10 parts of active alumina powder, 3-10 parts of andalusite, 3-7 parts of titanium silica microparticles, 2-5 parts of a sintering agent, 0.1-0.2 part of explosion-proof fiber and 0.1-0.3 part of a composite superplasticizer. The preparation method is as below: adding fused corundum, fused magnesia and explosion-proof fiber to a mixer, mixing by stirring for 2 min, then adding other ingredients in turn, and mixing by stirring for 3-4 min. The method improves the high temperature strength and high temperature erosion performance of the material; the preparation process and construction maintenance are simple; and the refractory spray paint has improved anti-corrosion properties, is environment-friendly and pollution-free, and can effectively purify molten steel and improve and prolong the service life of the work lining up to more than 180 times.
