The invention relates to a preparation method for producing high purity beta-phase silicon nitride by a combustion synthesis method. Silicon nitride powder and silicon powder combust to react in a reaction kettle filled with nitrogen. The silicon nitride powder and the silicon powder are mixed in a weight ratio of (0-100): (100-0), and a proper amount of urea is added. As the reaction is carried out under a high nitrogen pressure condition, compared to other methods, the method is relatively energy-saving and time-saving; raw material gas is pretreated, so that the product purity is ensured. The preparation method provided by the invention is simple in equipment, small in cost, stable in product quality and high in yield.
