The invention provides a glaze for a heatproof porcelain insulator used for a cement resistor and a preparation method thereof. The glaze comprises the following components: vinyl ester resin, dimethyldiethoxylsilane, potash feldspar, kaolin, mica, quartz, nanometer montmorillonite, antimonony oxide, a coupling agent and dicumyl peroxide. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) weighing the above-mentioned components according to desired weight parts, adding the components into a clean bowl mill, then adding clear water, locking a cover of the bowl mill, starting the bowl mill to grind the components in the bowl mill, and subjecting obtained glaze slip to iron removal and sieving with a screen mesh so as to obtain treated glaze slip; and (2) drying the glaze slip, conveying the dried glaze slip to a pulverizer for pulverization, and then sieving the obtained glaze powder with the screen mesh so as to obtain the glaze for the heatproof porcelain insulator used for the cement resistor. The glaze provided by the invention is prepared according to a reasonable formula, has good high temperature resistance, is free of glaze piling, glaze flowing and glaze bubbles and can meet performance requirements of the porcelain insulator in the cement resistor on the glaze.
