The invention discloses a steel rail for passenger and freight mixed carrying and a preparing method of the steel rail. The track distance of the steel rail for passenger and freight mixed carrying is formed by a globular pearlite structure, the thickness of the track distance ranges from 3 mm to 5 mm, the rigidity ranges from 311 HB to 350 HB, and the ductility ranges from 12.5% to 16%. The preparing method includes the steps that the steel rail obtained after final rolling is rapidly cooled; and then rapid heating and heat preservation are carried out on the part of the track distance. The conditions of rapid cooling comprise the starting cooling temperature ranging from 800 DEG C to 880 DEG C, the cooling speed ranging from 2 DEG C/s to 6 DEG C/s, and the final cooling temperature ranging from 430 DEG C to 470 DEG C; and according to conditions of rapid heating and heat preservation, the temperature of the track distance rises to 700 DEG C to 800 DEG C with the temperature rising speed ranging from 3.0 DEG C/s to 4.0 DEG C/s for heat preservation for 2 min to 4 min. The steel rail for passenger and freight mixed carrying has the high strength, the high abrasive resistance and the high contact fatigue resistance, and particularly has the excellent abrasive resistance and the excellent contact fatigue resistance in the earlier stage of use.
