The invention relates to the technical field of vehicle control, in particular to a stern door control system and method. The stern door control system is characterized by comprising a vehicle body controller, a stern door opening switch and a driver lock which are connected with the vehicle body controller, a remote key used for remotely controlling the vehicle body controller, a stern door controller and a stern door lock motor device which is connected with the stern door controller, wherein the vehicle body controller is connected with the stern door controller through an L IN bus, the vehicle body controller is used for collecting stern door opening switch signals and driver lock signals, and the stern door controller acquires input signals of the stern door motor device and outputs control signals to the stern door lock motor device to achieve locking or unlocking of a stern door. According to the stern door control system and method, separate unlocking of the stern door is achieved, and the safety of a whole vehicle is improved.
