The invention discloses water-resistant putty powder and a preparation method thereof and relates to the field of coatings. The water-resistant putty powder is prepared from modified epidesmine powder, kaolin powder, polished rice gel powder, silica dihydrate, cellulose, aluminum-magnesium silicate, crosslinked starch and a pigment. The preparation method comprises crushing natural zeolite, mixing the crushed zeolite and hydrochloric acid, carrying out immersion, washing the crushed zeolite by distilled water until pH is 7, carrying out drying, mixing the dried zeolite and AgNO3, carrying out immersion, carrying out high pressure steam treatment, preparing polished rice gel powder, orderly mixing the modified epidesmine powder, kaolin powder, polished rice gel powder, silica dihydrate and crosslinked starch to obtain a uniform mixture, adding cellulose, aluminum-magnesium silicate and pigment into the mixture and carrying out stirring to obtain a uniform mixture. Through use of epidesmine powder, polished rice gel powder and silica dihydrate powder, adhesion is strong, hollowing, peeling and fracturing after affection with damp are avoided, and indoor formaldehyde content is effectively reduced.
