The invention discloses a method for strengthening a dry tailing storage yard by utilizing barren rocks. A barren rock dam (3) is built at the inner periphery of a built dry tailing storage yard dam body (2); a barren rock middle partition dam (4) is built in the barren rock dam (3); at least two middle partition branch dams (4') are built at the two sides of the barren rock middle partition dam (4) respectively; a barren rock pile (5) is piled up in a gap among the barren rock dam (3), the barren rock middle partition dam (4) and the middle partition branch dams (4') by utilizing barren rocks in a rock disposal dump; and a space among the barren rock dam (3), the barren rock middle partition dam (4), the middle partition branch dams (4') and the barren rock pile (5) is a reservoir area for piled-up tailings (6), and is divided into a plurality of small areas which are communicated with one another. According to the method, by adopting a strengthening process technology of internal periphery strengthening, partitioning and area barren rock piling-up is adopted for the dry tailing storage yard, so that not only is the dry tailing storage yard strengthened, but also the piling-up problem of mineral barren rocks is solved, and therefore, land occupation by a project is saved.
