The invention discloses a steel rail for a high-speed railway and a preparation method of the steel rail. Gauge corners of the steel rail for the high-speed railway are composed of globular perlitic structures. The thickness of each gauge corner is 3-5 mm, the hardness of each gauge corner is 290-319 HB, and the ductility of each gauge corner is 13.5-17.0%. The preparation method comprises the steps that the steel rail after finished rolling is quickly cooled, and then the gauge corner portions are quickly heated and kept warm; the quick cooling conditions are that the initial cooling temperature is 800-880 DEG C, the cooling speed is 2-10 DEG C per second, and the final cooling temperature is 360-410 DEG C; the quick heating and warm keeping conditions are that the temperature of the gauge corners is increased to 710-810 DEG C at a temperature increasing speed of 3.0-4.0 DEG C per second, and the temperature is kept for 2-4 min. The steel rail for the high-speed railway has high strength, high abrasion resistance and high contacting fatigue resistance, and has superior abrasion resistance and contacting fatigue resistance especially during the early use stage.
