The invention discloses a locking mechanism mounted from above a faucet mounting table facet and a mounting method of the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism comprises a locking block, a clamping ring and a connection piece which penetrates through the clamping ring and is connected with the locking block, wherein the locking block is arranged on the outer wall of a faucet body in a sleeving manner and located below a faucet mounting surface; the clamping ring is nested into the faucet body and is connected above the faucet mounting surface through a suspension structure, and the clamping ring is nested into the faucet body and is rotated by a certain angle circumferentially so as to drive the faucet body to be suspended on the clamping ring; the connection piece penetrates through the clamping ring and the faucet mounting surface, is adaptive to a hole in the locking block and is driven to drive the locking block to move, so that the clamping ring and the locking block clamp the faucet mounting surface. The locking mechanism is simple in structure and easy to implement, is more visual because of the manner of mounting above the faucet mounting surface and can be effectively mounted, and the mounting efficiency is substantially improved.
