The invention relates to a light-weight magnesium oxide board and aims to solve a technical problem of providing a novel light-weight magnesium oxide board. In the technical scheme, the light-weight magnesium oxide board consists of a framework layer, a functional layer and a slurry material. The framework layer includes two layers and is made from glass fiber mesh cloths. The functional layer is a non-continuous layer composed of a plurality of primary-foamed sheet materials. The primary-foamed sheet materials can be subjected to secondary foaming. The functional layer is arranged between the two framework layers. The light-weight magnesium oxide board is prepared by placing the materials of the framework layers and the functional layer in a die successively; pouring the slurry material into the die; performing press moulding to the framework layers and the functional layer with the slurry material through a roll cylinder of a moulding device to prepare a pre-formed board, wherein the thickness of the slurry material between framework layers and the functional layer is 1.5-2 mm and the total thickness of the pre-formed board is 1-1.5 cm; and finally performing secondary foaming, shaping hydration, and sun-drying to obtain the light-weight magnesium oxide board.
