The invention discloses a production method for wet-process phosphoric acid byproduct alpha semi-hydrated gypsum whiskers. The production method comprises the following steps: adding phosphate rock powder and partial dilute sulfuric acid into an extraction tank for extraction reaction, feeding clear liquid separated from the obtained mixed slurry to an acid warehouse, transferring separated solids and residual mixed slurry to a crystal transformation tank, adding sulfuric acid and a crystal modifier into the crystal transformation tank, carrying out crystal transformation reaction for 2-9 h under the condition that the temperature of the crystal transformation tank is kept to be 40-130 DEG C, and carrying out solid-liquid separation on the obtained acid-mixed slurry, so as to obtain solids namely the alpha semi-hydrated gypsum whiskers. According to the invention, a conventional process and technology are improved, discharge of ardealite and acid-insoluble substances is eliminated, and the content of phosphorus in gypsum is reduced, the utilization ratio of phosphorus is increased, dilution heat of concentrated sulfuric acid is used fully and energy conservation and emission reduction are realized.
