The invention provides a road surface roughness measurement method and an inertial detector. The road surface roughness measurement method includes the steps: measuring the inertial detector vibration acceleration speeds and distances of the inertial detector away from the ground at measurement points through the inertial detector, calculating the average to obtain inertial detector vibration acceleration speeds corresponding to preset sampling points and distances of the inertial detector away from the ground corresponding to the preset sampling points, carrying out two times of integral operation on the inertial detector vibration acceleration speeds corresponding to the preset sampling points, to obtain inertial detector vibration displacements corresponding to the preset sampling points, allowing the inertial detector vibration displacements to subtract the distances of the inertial detector from the ground, to obtain roughness values corresponding to the sampling points, and further analyzing to obtain the road surface roughness of a to-be-tested road surface. Through calculation of the average values of the vibration acceleration speeds and the vibration speeds, the direct current component of the measured vibration acceleration speeds is removed, so as to avoid unstable measured results of the road surface roughness.
