The invention relates to a wheel gripping type automobile carrier. The wheel gripping type automobile carrier comprises an automobile body, running wheels, a running motor, guiding wheels, gripping arms, a transmission mechanism and a gripping motor, wherein two pairs of gripping arms capable of swinging around shafts are respectively arranged on two longitudinal sides of the automobile body; the gripping motor is connected with the gripping arms through the transmission mechanism; the transmission mechanism comprises worms, worm wheel-gear elements and first gears; the first gears are fixed on the swinging shafts of the gripping arms; each transverse worm is arranged between the swinging shafts of the corresponding pair of gripping arms; two corresponding worm wheel-gear elements are respectively arranged on two sides of each worm; the worm wheel-gear elements are cylindrical; a part of an excircle of each worm wheel-gear element is provided with worm wheels while the rest part of the excircle of the worm wheel-gear element is provided with gears; the worm wheel-gear elements are meshed with the corresponding worms through worm wheel portions, and are meshed with the corresponding first gears through gear portions; and the worms are driven by the gripping motor. The carrier is compact in structure, low in cost, quick in action and short in longitudinal length.
