The invention relates to a method for directly preparing an aluminum spinel refractory from aluminum ash and a material prepared by using the method. The technical scheme is as follows: the method comprises the steps of mixing 50-90wt% of aluminum ash and 10-50wt% of magnesium or zinc-containing raw materials, and adding a sintering aid, wherein the sintering aid accounts for 0.1-0.5wt% of the mixed material; forming after ball milling and uniform mixing; heating the formed blank in a high-temperature reaction furnace to 1000-1400 DEG C at the rate of 2-10 DEG C/min, and preserving the heat for 1-5 hours; and then, cooling to the room temperature to obtain the aluminum spinel refractory. The method has the technical characteristics that aluminum ash solid wastes are used as the raw materials, the raw material application range is wide, and the problems of comprehensive utilization and secondary environment pollution of the aluminum ash are better solved; and compared with the conventional sintering method and electric melting method for preparing aluminum spinel, the method is simple in process flow, low in synthesis temperature, short in sintering time, stable in product quality and remarkable in energy-saving effect.
