The invention relates to above-99% alumina granulation powder for cold isostatic pressing blank forming and a preparation method thereof. The above-99% alumina granulation powder is prepared from, by mass, 100-200 parts of high-aluminum alumina balls, 50-150 parts of calcined materials CT-3000SG, 1-5 parts of a binding agent, 0.1-1 part of a dispersing agent, 0.1-1 part of yttrium oxide, 0.1-1 part of magnesium oxide and 50-150 parts of deionized water. The preparation method comprises the steps of ball milling, screening after paste is generated, stirring, magnet processing, centrifugal spray granulating, coarse and fine granule removing on granulated powder through a screen, iron and impurity removing and homogenizing. The above-99% alumina granulation powder is little in water content, high in apparent density and blank density after being prepared into a blank, good in stability and toughness, not prone to corner chipping and outstanding in post-processing property; the preparation method is simple in technology and low in cost and has the good application prospect.
