The invention discloses a light-weight high-strength muck-based thermal insulation material and a preparation method thereof. The light-weight high-strength muck-based thermal insulation material comprises the components in parts by mass: 45-55 parts of muck, 0-10 parts of fly ash, 25-35 parts of cement, 10-20 parts of polyphenyl particles, 5-10 parts of a foaming agent, 0.5-1.5 parts of a water reducing agent and 5-15 parts of aerogel. The preparation method comprises the steps: uniformly mixing the raw materials in proportion, adding the foaming agent, the water reducing agent and a proper amount of water, stirring to form slurry, adding the aerogel, stirring to form slurry, molding, and placing at the temperature of 20 DEG C-50 DEG C and curing. The thermal insulation material has the beneficial effects that the polyphenyl particles are used as lightweight aggregate, hydrogen peroxide is used as a foaming agent to increase the number of micropores of a matrix, and an aerogel modification technology is matched on the basis of a dual weight reduction scheme, so that the thermal insulation performance of the thermal insulation material can be effectively improved, and meanwhile, good mechanical properties are maintained; the thermal insulation material has the advantages of light weight, high strength, thermal insulation and energy conservation.
