The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock (10) for a movable vehicle part, in particular for a door, flap, tailgate or bonnet, said lock having a lock housing (11) and a rotary latch (12) that ismovably provided on the lock housing (11), and the rotary latch (12) being movable into an open position and at least one engaged position (I). In addition, at least one buffer unit (13) is provided on the lock housing (11) and at least one braking element (13.1) is located on the buffer unit (13), such that at least some portions of the braking element (13.1) can be brought into contact with therotary latch (12), at least while the rotary latch (12) is moving into the open position.
