The invention relates to industrial and civil buildings, in particular to a support structure for sectional installation of a large diameter and extra-long pipeline across a roof and a construction method. The support structure comprises a left plant column and a right plant column in the inner sides of the walls on the two sides of a plant, the left plant column and the right plant column are respectively provided with a left crane beam and a right crane beam, the left crane beam and the right crane beam are respectively provided with a left column and a right column, the upper ends of the left column and the right column extend out of a roof of a workshop, a beam is installed at the upper ends of the left column and the right column, pipe brackets are installed on the beam, and middle pipelines are placed on the pipe brackets. The problem that the site of an old plant area is narrow and a large crane cannot stand and lift is solved; segmental hoisting of large diameter and extra-longpipelines has high construction safety; a crane of smaller tonnage can meet construction requirements; original plant columns are fully utilized, the height of a support is reduced, and the amount ofthe support is saved; and the construction period is shortened, and the construction cost is lowered.
