The invention discloses an escape ladder stored outside a window. The escape ladder comprises a wall body with a sill. A motor is arranged on the upper portion of the wall body. A first rotating shaftis connected to the motor. Two first gears are installed on the first rotating shaft. Each first gear is meshed with a double-faced rack. The other face of each double-faced rack is meshed with a second gear. A driving elevating rod is installed on the gear face of each second gear. The other end of each driving elevating rod is hinged to the middle portion of an upper ladder frame. As an escapemeans used when unforeseen circumstances happen in residential buildings, the device is usually stored in a cover plate below the sill on each floor, shortening of the life of the device can be sloweddown, the portion extending out of the cover plate can also be used as a clothes airing rod, and the device can be overturned and then fall onto the sill on the lower floor to be used as a support after being triggered.
