The invention discloses a green retaining wall for building a sponge city, and in particular, relates to the field of green retaining walls. The green retaining wall comprises a top groove; two carrying frames are respectively arranged at the two ends of the bottom of the top groove; bottom grooves are formed in the bottoms of the carrying frames; two connecting sheets are respectively arranged onthe two sides of the carrying frames; support rods are respectively arranged at the two ends of the connecting sheets; clamping grooves are respectively formed between the support rods and the top groove, a bottom groove; and steel nails are fixedly connected to the back ends of the top groove and the bottom groove. Through fit of multiple connecting sheets and bolts, multiple support rods and the carrying frames can be vertically assembled, so that the device is suitable for slopes with different sizes, and meanwhile, the device is conveniently disassembled and repeatedly used; through a hollow structure of the bottom groove, rainwater overflowing from the bottom of the device is conveniently collected; and through fit of a drainage pipe and an external pipe, the water accumulated in thebottom groove can be drained out to prevent influence on growth of green plants.
