The invention relates to a rotary-type composite damper. The rotary-type composite damper comprises a left end plate, a left arc plate, a left web plate, a right end plate, a right web plate, a rightarc plate, a middle arc plate, a flange plate, a web stiffening plate, a flange stiffening plate, a friction damping material and a viscous damping material, the left end plate, the left arc plate andthe left web plate are welded together to form a left node, the right end plate, the right web plate, the right arc plate and the flange plate are welded together to form a right node, the viscous material is sandwiched between the right arc plate and the middle arc plate, and the friction damping material is sandwiched between the middle arc plate and the left arc plate. According to the rotary-type composite damper, combined using of viscous damping and friction damping is achieved, distribution designing of the two damping is achieved, and the working state of the damper is controlled through a saw tooth structure, so that the damper meets the seismic requirements under small, medium and large earthquakes, the damper is integrated with a structure without occupying extra space, and thedamper is easy to install and convenient to assemble.
