The invention relates to a railway ballast bed sand removing vehicle and an operation method thereof. The railway ballast bed sand removing vehicle comprises a sand removing vehicle frame, a bogie, acab and a generator set. A main dust suction and removal system, an air blowing system, a material transfer device and a hydraulic system are integrated at the rear end of the sand removal vehicle frame. A sand pushing plough is arranged below the front end of the sand removing vehicle frame; a side suction dust removal system is arranged above the middle part of the sand removal vehicle frame; aside suction working device is connected below the side suction dust removal system; and a blowing and sucking working device is connected below the main suction dust and removal system (7). The sandremoving vehicle integrates multiple working devices for railway ballast bed sand removing, and accumulated sand buried in a steel rail is rapidly removed through the sand pushing plough; the side suction working device is controlled by a wireless remote controller to achieve operation and retraction of the side suction working device, so that the long-distance sand suction requirement of a special section is met, and sand removal work of a ballast bed on the outer side of a track is achieved.
