The invention relates to a device (1) for cleaning ballast (2) of a track (3). The device consists of a plurality of vehicles (6) having a machine frame (5) supported on a rail carriage (4), and has two lateral cleaning chains (7) which lie opposite to each other in the transverse direction of the track for collecting ballast (2) in a lateral region (8) adjoining the sleeper ends; a continuous clearing chain (10) which is arranged behind the side clearing chain (7) in the working direction (9) of the device (1), can be guided around the track (3) and is used for collecting the ballast (2) located below the track (3); a screening system (11), a conveying device (13, 14, 15, 21, 22) for conveying ballast (2), and a ballast insertion device (12). The side cleaning chain (7) is provided with afirst conveying device (11) used for conveying the ballast (2) to the screening facility (11). The continuous cleaning chain (10) is provided with a second conveying device (14) for conveying the ballast (2) to the pretreatment unit (16), and the pre-treatment unit (16) is provided with a third conveying device (15) for conveying the ballast (2) to the screening plant (11).
