The invention discloses an island outer ring aquitard design method for increasing island underground fresh water reserves. The island outer ring aquitard design method comprises the following steps that 1, hydrogeological data of an artificial island or a natural island are measured; 2, a two-dimensional island seawater intrusion model introduced into the island outer ring aquitard is established; 3, the depth of fresh water in the island is analyzed and calculated after the outer ring aquitard is added to the island; and 4, island fresh water reserves is calculated based on a two-dimensionalprofile model, and optimal aquitard design parameters are obtained according to the maximum island fresh water reserves. The method for increasing the fresh water reserve of the island can be appliedto artificial islands and natural islands, is convenient to construct and obvious in effect, can promote development and utilization of the island, can cope with shortage of water resources in islandareas, and has high popularization and application value.
